We put lights up the windows but that's all because we live next to an electrician, two houses from an electrician's son, opposite an electrician's son and diagonally opposite an electrician's mother so it seems really pointless to do loads xD. They'd just make theirs look better so ours looked rubbish anyway lol.

Good point. Some people go crazy don't they? I dread to think what their electricity bill looks like.

I live in a first floor flat in a shared property so I couldn't decorate the outside without the other three tenants permission, plus our property is kind of back from public view, so we just put some in the window.

We usually just put a few lights in the window........ Im selfish i decorate my house for me not for the people outside lol.

I used to live on an estate where everyone went crazy to the point where it became petty trying to be the best, the first ones up etc, even got to the point where they were cutting eachothers wires nice place!

Absoultely not!!!
Our estate is like a grotto without us adding to it.....sometimes it can look good but.....some are sooooooo tacky

RedCat - Yes, I should think their electricity bill is pretty astronomical! That's why we use battery powered lights xD lol.
At least you can decorate your window though. It's better than nothing.

mrsow - I can understand why you'd decorate for you, not everyone else. The main reason we do it is just to have something pretty to come home to xD
I don't see the point in going crazy over it all either. Some lights and decorations, yes. I don't get the whole "Lets have a huge competition and cut lights on other people's houses and make ours the only good one" things though. Might as well make a joint effort

Mhags - That's fair enough. Overdoing it can be pretty annoying! It gets annoying here with all the people who decorate.
